Katerina Linke is a pianist and a composer of Russian origin settled down in Galicia since 2009. She was born in 1980 in the town of Yoshkar-Ola in Central Russia and comes from a family of musicians and dancers through several generations. She began studying music in her home town and completed her musical education in the N.G. Zhiganov Kazan State Conservatory, which she graduated with honors.
Since 2004 she worked as a piano accompanist, soloist, composer, and piano teacher among other places in the prestigious Boris Eifman Ballet in Saint Petersburg, in the Music and Ballet School in Tokyo, or in the Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express, a luxury train running across Russia from Moscow to Vladivostok.
Since 2009, Katerina has been living in Vigo and has been working as a piano teacher in Viana do Castelo (Portugal) in the Music Academy (Academia de Música de Viana do Castelo) and as a piano accompanist in the Professional Music School (Escola Profissional de Música de Viana do Castelo). During this period, she accompanied her students on the piano in numerous contests and master classes in Portugal and Spain. She also trained some of her students for various national and international piano contests, in which they won different awards. Periodically she gives recitals as a
soloist and as a member of chamber ensembles, performing her own compositions and classical/contemporary repertoire. In 2016 she was invited to play the Concerto No. 20 of W.A. Mozart with Con Spirito orchestra in the festival of classical music in Viana do Castelo. This year she worked as well as a piano accompanist to the ESMAE (Escola Superior de Música, Artes e Espectáculo) in Porto (Portugal).
At the same time Katerina composes music, mainly for piano and chamber ensembles, and participates in different audiovisual projects for animated and short films.
In 2015 she was selected as a finalist in the contest “Galicia creativa”, organized by SGAE in the jazz category. In 2016 her song “Algúns din” performed by her group Son de fóra (voice, piano, cello) received the first prize in the contest “Musicando a Rosalía”, organized by Vigo Council.“Algúns din” is a part of the cycle of 10 songs with lyrics of Rosalía de Castro.
In 2016 she publishes the sheet music book for piano Melodías en blanco y negro, which contains pieces written in a contemporary musical language with some influence of jazz. She was invited to present her book in the international congress of EPTA (European Piano Teachers Association) in Oporto.
